OUR JOURNEY

About Us

Family, hard work and a lot of fresh air!

Peak Exterior property Solutions ltd (formely Abbey Window Clean & Guttering) started over 30 years ago with Duncan, who was working as a nurse but fancied a change of scenery. Wanting more variety, more outdoor work and definitely less time stuck inside, he started building the business from the ground up. He named it Abbey Window cleaning due to the yellow pages (those of you old enough will rmember what this is) favouring businesses starting with A

Fast forward a few years and the next generation was getting involved. I grew up helping Dad out before and after school and at weekends, learning the value of hard work, turning up, getting stuck in and taking pride in what you do. Those early years shaped the strong work ethic that has carried me through to where I am today.

Then came Louise...

After continuously turning up late to football, I decided I needed someone to keep me organised — and thankfully, I recruited Louise! She quickly became far more than just our administrator. She's every bit as hands-on as the rest of us, getting stuck into the work wherever she's needed.

And perhaps the best part? Louise started with a huge fear of heights. These days, there's very little that stops her!

As the business continued to grow, we welcomed Ross to the team to help with business development, organisation and keeping everything running smoothly. He brings a different set of skills to the team and has become an important part of our continued growth.

And finally, there's Emils — our human bear! Nothing seems too heavy, too awkward or too much hard work for him. He simply gets stuck in, takes everything in his stride and somehow makes the jobs that look impossible seem completely manageable.

More Than Just a Business

Today, we're proud to be a family-focused, friendly and hardworking team providing exterior cleaning, roofing, guttering, painting and property maintenance services to domestic and commercial customers.

We've grown considerably since Duncan first picked up his tools over 30 years ago, but the principles have stayed the same:

Turn up. Work hard. Do the job properly. Look after your customers.

We're proud of where we've come from, proud of the team we've built and excited about where we're going next.

From one nurse looking for a bit more fresh air, to a growing team keeping properties looking their best — that's our story.

Who are we?

Sarah

At 32, I’ve never been very good at sitting still — which probably explains why I ended up working in an industry where being on a roof is considered a normal day at work!

I’m proud to be part of the family behind Peak Exterior Property Solutions, and I’m passionate about building a business that combines hard work, quality workmanship and a genuinely friendly approach. Having grown up helping out with the family business, I’ve learnt from an early age that turning up, getting stuck in and doing a job properly really does matter.

Outside of work, I’m just as busy. You’ll usually find me playing football — I’m a proud player for Yorkshire Wanderers — or swapping my work boots for riding boots and heading out with my pony, Silver. If I’m not on the football pitch or in the saddle, I’ll probably be out on my bike or getting stuck into another house renovation project.

And then there’s Nigel, my cat, who contributes absolutely nothing to the business but has somehow appointed himself head of quality control!

I love being part of a hands-on, family-run business and take real pride in what we do. Whether I’m up on a roof, clearing gutters, solving a tricky leak or getting stuck into a renovation, I’m happiest when I’m busy and getting a job done properly.

Hard work, a bit of determination and a lot of muddy boots — that’s me!

Duncan

The man who started it all.

After years of working in nursing, Duncan decided he fancied a change. He wanted to spend more time outdoors, work with his hands and, most importantly, do something a little different. That decision marked the beginning of what would become a business built around hard work, great relationships and a lot of character.

Duncan encouraged his daughter, Sarah, to give the business a go too, and together they began building something they could be proud of. Over the years, Duncan has developed a fantastic customer base and built lasting relationships with some genuinely lovely people — something that is no doubt helped by his naturally kind, charismatic and friendly personality.

For Duncan, the customers have always been one of the best parts of the job. He believes in doing things properly, treating people well and having a good chat along the way. After all, when you’ve been looking after the same customers for years, they become much more than just customers.

Outside of work, Duncan is always looking for his next adventure or hobby. He has a passion for fishing and sailing, and if there is something he doesn’t know how to do, there’s a very good chance you’ll find him on YouTube trying to learn it! Most recently, he has added a glider and an electric scooter to his collection of hobbies — because apparently there weren’t already enough ways for him to keep himself busy!

And then there was Luna.

Duncan’s beloved dog, Luna, was a huge part of the business and a firm favourite with customers. She was trained to be the perfect van dog and became known for being exceptionally well behaved — although she was certainly no stranger to receiving a little attention from the customers along the way.

In true Duncan fashion, even Luna had to take health and safety seriously. She had her very own custom high-vis vest, ensuring she was fully compliant with PPE requirements for the job!

Luna sadly passed away a few years ago, but she remains a much-loved part of the business story and is still remembered fondly by the many customers who knew her.

From nursing, to starting a business, to teaching his daughter the ropes and building friendships with customers along the way, Duncan is the heart of the business and the reason it all began.

And after 20 years, he’s still not quite ready to put his feet up!

Louise

If there’s one person who keeps Peak Exterior Property Solutions running like clockwork, it’s Lou!

Lou is our wonderfully organised, caring and energetic team member. She has a real knack for keeping everyone on track — whether that’s managing the diary, keeping the paperwork in order or simply making sure everyone has had a brew and is where they’re supposed to be!

Outside of work, Lou is kept busy with her lovely husband, Pete, their two children, Abigail and Matthew, and their much-loved dog, Benji. She’s also rather fond of her new Renault 5 — and we’re pretty sure she could happily talk about it for hours!

Lou is a proud Sheffield United fan and, when she’s not supporting the Blades, you’ll find her between the sticks as goalkeeper for Yorkshire Wanderers. She brings the same determination, team spirit and enthusiasm to football as she does to everything else.

Lou also has a real love for music and musicals. Whether it’s singing along to a favourite song, enjoying a show or getting caught up in a good musical, there’s always a bit of music somewhere in Lou’s world!

But what really sums Lou up is how much she cares about the people and community around her. She regularly gets involved with local community projects and does plenty to support her children's school. She’s also not afraid to get her hands dirty — from helping keep communal areas tidy to cutting back overgrown hedges along footpaths so they’re safer and easier for people to use.

She’s fun, fiercely loyal and always willing to help — the sort of person who somehow manages to look after everyone else while keeping everything organised at the same time.

Lou is the heart of the team — keeping us organised, keeping us laughing and, quite literally, keeping us from conceding goals!

Ross

The man who definitely didn’t get a choice in joining the family business!

When Ross started dating Sarah, he probably didn’t realise there was a rather important clause hidden in the relationship contract — joining the family business! What started as helping out has quickly turned into a role that has become a huge part of the business behind the scenes.

Ross works full-time as a legal recruiter, but somehow still finds the time to support Peak Exterior Property Solutions in the evenings and at weekends. You might not often see him out on the tools, but that certainly doesn’t mean he isn’t working hard.

Behind the scenes, Ross plays a big part in developing the business, keeping things organised, supporting the team and helping to keep everything moving in the right direction. From business development and planning to the less glamorous jobs that nobody else wants to do, Ross is often busy making sure the wheels keep turning.

He’s become a bit of the unofficial business brains, bringing his professional experience, organisation and, perhaps most importantly, the ability to put up with Sarah and the rest of the family!

When he finally gets some time away from work, Ross can usually be found playing padel, skiing, golfing or searching for the perfect sticky toffee pudding. And when he isn't doing any of those things, he's probably dreaming about the day he can cut down his hours, retire from the corporate world and finally get the dog he’s always wanted.

Until then, he’ll just have to settle for being part of the Peak team — whether he likes it or not!

Emils

The newest member of the Peak team — and quite possibly the strongest!

Emil joined the team more recently after helping us out with a few personal renovation projects. It didn’t take long for us to realise that he was exactly the sort of person we wanted around the business. His strength, reliability, attention to detail and quality of workmanship quickly made him a firm favourite — and before long, we managed to convince him to join us properly!

Although he was new to window cleaning, Emil has taken to it like a duck to water. He has picked up the skills incredibly quickly and has already become a valuable member of the team. Give him a job to do and you can be confident it will be done properly.

There is, however, one small issue...

Emils claims he is scared of heights!

We're hoping that, just like Louise, a little time working with us will soon cure him of that. After all, when you're part of Peak Exterior Property Solutions, heights are somewhat difficult to avoid!

Away from work, Emil is kept busy looking after his energetic daughter, who loves nothing more than dancing and keeping everyone on their toes. He also has an impressive passion for growing his own produce and seems determined to grow pretty much every vegetable known to man.

Luckily for us, the hard work doesn't stop in his garden. We regularly get the benefit of Emil's home-grown produce, with fresh vegetables making their way to the team to be turned into something tasty.

Strong, dependable, hardworking — and apparently capable of supplying the entire team with vegetables.

We're very pleased to have Emil on board and look forward to seeing him continue to grow with the business — hopefully without growing too fond of the ground!
